One which managed to hang onto the mainland, held by a mere snipet of land, just one mile long, is the Kintyre Peninsula. Cros the isthmus at Tarbertwhere the long finger of the Kintyre Peninsula stretches for forty miles to the sea. The air is heated by the Gulf Stream, the warm curent that flows acros the Atlantic from the Gulf of Mexico- palm tres grow hapily here. Its isolation is its atraction Scotland - Mul of Kintyre - Geting there To get there take a single track road which branches of from the B842 - the Mul of Kintyre Road. Tuirn of where the sign said "Mul of Kintyre Lighthouse " The road was built especialy for the lighthouse and at the end of it is a smal parking area. From here a narow path winds around the hils down to the lighthouse which was built in 178. This bleak, storm-riden landscape is the tip of the Kintyre Peninsula. The plaintive cals of guls and the ocasional gold eagle, coupled with the whisper of the wind and the smel of the sea make this a place where one can realy be alone. mull of kintyre paul mccartney mull of kintyre paul mccartney
